Nintendo hasn't announced a date, but 2018 is the year they will unfold their paid service. We know it will cost $20 a year.
Apparently, new features will make it better than the current online setup, but will it be enough that it's preferable to their free service? A lackluster online service for free is better than being charged for a lackluster online service.
Is putting your favorite franchises behind a paywall enough to convince you, or do you need to see specific features before you purchase? If so, what do you need before committing?
What do you need in order to pay for Nintendo's online service?

Well, I don’t play much of anything online. But if they released a new Wave Race game with online play or some new co-op/MMO Zelda/Mario/Animal Crossing/etc., I’d feel inclined to get on board.
But as it stands, $20 a year is not something I would scoff at. Especially if it includes even minor game percs.
If it were $20 monthly or $100 a year or whatever, then I would only sign up if I had a specific game that I used their network for But I have a feeling that it’ll at least be worth $1.66 a month.
